AU: Taking a Turn

The dream had the scratchy, dark quality of an old nior detective movie. What little light there was in the room seemed to be tinted blue. Yohji was sitting up in bed, talking on his cellphone. He was talking to Aya-chan. He'd never spoken to the girl before, but knew her voice anyway. It was similar to Sakura's, but older and more refined.

"Don't go," Aya-chan pleaded. "It was so hard to reach you. I need --" Static. "-- She needs you."

He could see Aya-chan pacing. He was sitting in his bedroom with the phone to his ear, but he could see Aya-chan in a library across the city. She was pacing, and she wasn't alone. There was a woman sitting on the floor, slouched against a self of books. At first all he could see was long, strong legs, then full breasts, then her face. God. Her face. It was Asuka. Not Neu. Neu never looked scared, determined, or defiant. It was Asuka, but she was... Not dead anymore somehow. And it had something to do with Aya-chan somehow.

"We need you. Please help." Dial tone.

The darkness returned to normal. Yohji was still sitting in bed with the phone in his hand, but all he could see was his bedroom wall.

AU: Belonging to a Man

Aya-chan's screams blended with Sorena's, shattering through the corridor. Aya-chan's back was pressed to the door, that shook with Sorena's death struggles. The metal twisted and bent, light pouring through the opening in the door, but Lyn had enchanted it and Sorena could not pass through. When light filled the oubliette, what had been Sorena Capulet turned to dust, and the force that she hurled herself against the door scattered the ashes. Aya-chan stood, moving away from the door, and Sorena's ashes covered her. She tried to wipe them off, tears and blood streaking her face. Turning her into a vampire had not made Aya-chan into a killer, but making her brother a vampire had, and she made her innocent wife her accomplice.

N4W: Not-so Chance Encounter

Sariel stepped out of the toy store onto the streets of the red light district with a touch of disappointment. Mostly they got things custom made, but sometimes they found commercial worth the money. This place hadn't really lived up to its reputation, though. A shame.

N4W: Drowning in Honey

The coffee shop was crowded. The chatter of the patrons sounded like a cacophony of birds gathered at a marsh. Schu was just finishing his coffee. He tapped the tiny spoon on the side of the bone white cup and let the voices flood in. So many were lost and in pain it was like drowning in honey. He could drown and get lost himself, except he was already lost. He'd been a shiny toy, picked up and played with, then put on a shelf. For YEARS. Without his markers, without Crawford or Aya, Schu didn't know who he was. He was already drowning. Schu pushed outward, pushing the vague, hopeless discontent of some of the people around him into anger. Several arguments erupted simultaneously. But if he was drowning, he was going to enjoy it. If he was going down, he wasn't going down alone.

Playing Valet

The gentleman who answered the door wore a severe black suit that proclaimed him to be a butler. He had a full head of salt and pepper hair, particularly gray around the temples and penetrating brown eyes currently aimed at Kakyou and the little suitcase in his hands. Read more... )

Flowers Do Fade

[ Related Universe: Stained Glass Curtain ]

It started with three flowers, left on Ran's desk. An orchid, a lily, and a single coral-colored rose. No note, no indication of who had left them. Ran flushed when he saw them, and quickly hid them away. He looked around for any sign of who might have left them.Read more... )

To Catch a Sidhe

Aya-chan was told not to gather flowers in this part of the woods. That's part of why she was there. The flowers were lovelier here… and a little strange. For Aya, that only added to their beauty.

"Hello!" The voice was bright and cheerful and coming from just a little behind and above her. Lyn was laying along a tree branch, her light, multi-colored skirts fluttering now and then in faint breezes. She was smiling happily down, green eyes curious.Read more... )

Wounded

Omi patted his knee, and stood to leave, saying he would be back in a few hours to check on Aya and make sure he took the next dose of pain killers. Aya tried not to feel patronized. Fuck it. Fuck Omi. He did feel patronized. He ignored the way pulling on his shirt mage his wound twinge. Yohji had been standing in the doorway, watching Omi bandage him up. He did that sometimes. Aya didn't understand why, but didn't mind the watching, but tended to mind it less when he was clothed. If Aya didn't say something, Yohji would likely just go away eventually. "Do you want something?" Aya asked, glancing over his shoulder.Read more... )

Finding a Reason

Aya-chan was about to pull the gate down when a ghostly pale figure appeared in front of her. She jumped, startled. Then she saw it was only a beautiful young man. She lifted the gate a little, smiled, and said, "I'm sorry. We're closed." She needed to be closed. After the phone call from Ran, staying up had been… She just wanted to go to her room and cry. Second Chance, First Impression

The PINpoint sparked in Aya's hand. It had never done that before. He looked around a room that he did not recognize. It was spartan with bars an ornate but ominous grill on the window. There was a bookshelf but little else. He recognized some of the titles. He turned in circle. The wary surprise and confusion written on his face was easier to read than many of the books on the shelves. He looked at a small boy sitting on a bed. He recognized him at once.Read more... )

Crystal Doves

Ran's soft slippers on the tatami mats made almost no noise as he raced into the sleeping chamber. He felt dizzy. His heart was pounding too fast, and he was holding his breath. His breath left him all at once as he saw Kakyou. Joy spread across Ran's face as bright as sun rise.Read more... )
